In first 3 hours of face mask rule, multiple employees are threatened with violence

(CNN) — An emergency proclamation issued Thursday in Stillwater, Oklahoma, requiring the use of face masks in stores and restaurants was amended Friday after threats of violence.

“In the short time beginning on May 1, 2020, that face coverings have been required for entry into stores/restaurants, store employees have been threatened with physical violence and showered with verbal abuse,” Stillwater City Manager Norman McNickle said in a statement.

“In addition, there has been one threat of violence using a firearm. This has occurred in three short hours and in the face of clear medical evidence that face coverings helps contain the spread of Covid-19.”

Due to the threats of violence, Mayor Will Joyce amended the emergency order to encourage, rather than require, face coverings in the city of 50,000 people.

I can't figure it our either. The "no shirt, no shoes" thing is about hygiene, and given the situation, a mask is too.

fine those inconsiderate jerks who refuse to wear one and arrest those threatening people, especially if they do it with a weapon.

Seriously WTH people. There are rules and laws we follow every single day that are out in place to protect us and others.

Hey Covidiots! Requiring people to wear a mask in public when there's a pandemic going around isn't unreasonable nor is it unconstitutional and certainly a business insisting on you wearing one in order to shop in their store is well within their rights. You are within yours only to take your stupid ignorant ass elsewhere.

What these bozos fail to recognize (or worse, they don't care) is that their risk of harm assessment for themselves is not exclusive. They could be walking transmitter of disease, shedding virus with every breath.

So many of these same people whine bout how we need a strong military. Okay, lets scramble some National Guards and take these terrorists into federal custody and let them explain why they are acting like this. If they resist, show them just how 'strong' our military is. TAKE THEM DOWN.

(I am the last person to call for such 'martial law' actions, but these people need to understand that they are a danger to themselves and others. If I were to be running around with any type of weapon threatening myself and others, I would be taken out in about ten seconds. Why not them?)

That mayor should have stood by his proclamation. He should be sued for caving to the right wing nut jobs who are putting the public at risk with more than their guns. They should be arrested, not mollified!
