Deputy who yelled 'Vote Trump' at voters under state investigation

The Oregon Secretary of State's elections staff is investigating whether a Multnomah County sheriff's deputy violated state law when he drove past a line of voters and broadcast pro-Trump messages from a department vehicle on Nov. 8.

The Secretary of State's Office was aware of the incident the day it occurred and began investigating immediately, spokeswoman Molly Woon told The Oregonian/OregonLive Friday.

Voters said the deputy drove by in a blue and white car marked "sheriff" while they were waiting in line at the Multnomah County Elections Division in Southeast Portland on Nov. 8.

Pat Moran told The Oregonian/OregonLive that he was in line with 20 to 30 other people when he heard the deputy said over the car megaphone speaker, "Vote Trump."
