The matriarch of the Hammond ranching family said Wednesday she hasn't heard if President Donald Trump is considering pardons for her husband and son, whose imprisonment led to the 2016 armed occupation of the Malheur National Wildlife Refuge.
But Susie Hammond said, "I have a sense that things are moving forward and I have faith in our president. If anyone is going to help them, he'd be the one."
Hammond said she's getting a lot of questions about it. "Something must have just broke loose because I have three phones ringing," she said.
A Washington Post reporter contacted her Tuesday and said he understood that the White House was considering the pardons and wanted to learn what she knew.
