Laura Kealiher just wants closure.
In the early hours of October 12, 2019, Lauras son Sean Kealiher was fatally hit by someone driving an SUV in Northeast Portland, spurring a homicide investigation by the Portland Police Bureau (PPB). Now, nearly a year since Seans death, Laura has given up hope that local law enforcement will solve her sons murder.
Whatever trust I had in the judicial system is gone, Laura told the Mercury in an interview Friday. I have cooperated with the police investigation for months, I have followed their instruction to not talk with the press, I have kept quiet. But I think that has done more harm than good.
After feeling misled by the Multnomah County District Attorneys office about Seans investigation, Laura said shes done staying quiet.
Im ready to bring this to the streets, she said.

(14,131 posts)If you call them for service, and if you can talk to an officer, they will explicitly tell you they aren't doing their jobs because they are just too busy with protesters. They certainly arent going to break that strike to find justice for one of the protestors.

(14,131 posts)And definitely not PPD's active, violent and corrupt response toward citizens, especially those harmed by PPD's violent RW allies.
Or to put it another way, While the current situation has emboldened PPD to outright say they wont help people so that they can try to blame it on protestors, my experience is that that the only thing that has changed is that the police are being honest about the fact they wont help. The actual level of service provided hasn't actually changed.

(12,751 posts)for quite some period of time. And PPD, like a lot of big city police forces, has had a chip on their shoulder for a long time as well. My post was aimed at pointing out that the time frame between the incident reported in the OP -- and your explanation of cause and effect didn't quite overlap.
It's been a long friggin' summer. Wishing your luck.
