Democrat Elizabeth Steiner has a five point lead over Brian Boquist for Oregon State Treasurer
With incumbent Tobias Read termed out and running for Secretary of State, this years contest for Oregon State Treasurer is an open seat. Fortunately for Democrats, theyre favored to win, just as they are for the other two executive positions on the ballot.
Our autumn survey of the Oregon electorate finds that Democrat Elizabeth Steiner has plurality support for her campaign to succeed Read, with Republican rival Brian Boquist five points behind and Working Families Party candidate Mary King in the single digits.
42% of 716 likely Oregon voters surveyed for NPI by Public Policy Polling last week said theyre voting for Steiner to be Oregons next Treasurer. 37% said theyre voting for Republican Brian J. Boquist. 4% said theyre voting for Working Families Party candidate Mary King. Another 16% said they are not sure who theyre voting for.
Steiner and Boquist are both state senators. Steiner serves in the Democratic majority; Boquist is in the Republican minority and has participated in staging walkouts to prevent the Oregon Legislature from properly functioning.
