Rep. Frank Ryan (R) - Reduce PA property taxes by taxing pensions

Snip> Republican state Rep. Frank Ryan said this week he soon will file a bill that would eliminate the much-despised school property tax. One of his ideas for raising revenue is a 4.92% tax on retirement income, which currently is not taxed in Pennsylvania.

Snip> “The whole point is to have people stay in their homes longer,” State Rep. Peter Schweyer (D) said. “You don’t achieve that goal by taking money out of the hands or the pockets of the people you are trying to help.”

Completely agree with Rep. Schweyer... a bad idea.

No mention of taxing fracking!

We still pay all the other taxes (property, federal, etc) just not the 3.07% PA wage tax or local earned income tax on pensions. It’s a nice little thing. The 3.07% is a flat tax, not progressive. That’s the problem IMO.

They're just greedy bastards who want the taxes of their campaign contributors slashed--and to shake down seniors!
