Stanford University/ Yale University Pennsylvania Opinion Survey

My wife and I normally do not participate in polls, but received a letter via USPS from Professor David Broockman, Stanford University ( Stanford, Ca) to take an online Pennsylvania Opinion Survey that he and Joshua Kalla of Yale University are currently conducting. It gave us passwords to log in at paopinion.org or http://opinion.stanford.edu by Sept 1 to participate. It goes on to state that if we are contacted for any followup surveys they will pay us $5.00.

I am not excited to participate in any surveys, especially not knowing who is actually paying to do the survey.

Is anyone familiar with this so called study of registered Pennsylvania voters?

Stanford (usually requests for donations), also a medical newsletter out of Harvard, or the Stanford
magazine, this request seems way out of line with the university’s usual efforts to engage its community.

I question the source, but stand to be corrected.

It's possible they are seeking people to test their theories on persuasion, if you fit into their test group you will get paid $5.00 for future surveys. Although I am a persuadable democratic voter, and may consider an online survey, I am not interested in participating in any surveys requiring personal contact and/or phone calls etc.
