DA doesn't recommend charges in Harmar, PA, double stabbing
The Allegheny County (PA) District Attorneys Office on Wednesday recommended not filing charges against anyone involved in a fight where two men stabbed each other. The fight at the Valley Motel on Freeport Road in Harmar was reported shortly after 4 p.m. Tuesday, according to Allegheny County Police. one of the people involved has been identified by name.
According to police, a 38-year-old man and his girlfriend, 36, were staying at the motel. They got into an argument over the phone with the womans father, 56, and her brother, 33. The father and brother came to the motel and confronted the boyfriend in the couples room.
Someone had a knife, and the womans boyfriend and brother stabbed each other, according to police. The womans brother had a stab wound to his abdomen and was last known to be in critical condition. The womans boyfriend was cut multiple times. The womans father suffered a broken hand. The woman was not hurt.
Mike Manko, a spokesman for District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr., did not comment when asked how or why the decision to not file charges was made. This investigation is ongoing, which is why we would not comment any further at this time, he said.
