PA election results, any surprises where you live?

On the top line, there were two superior court seats up for grabs. The result was 1 D (Dan McCaffery), 1R (Megan King), so a split.

On my local Beaver county elections, some very close races. Rs stayed in control of the county gov't 2-1, but the 4th place finisher was a former-R commissioner who switched parties and ran as a Dem. Dems came within a whisker (>1000 votes)of beating the incumbent county DA. For the first time, an AfAm woman was on the ballot for a row office, recorder of deeds. It wasn't too surprising she lost, but she lost by >3000 votes out of more than 38,000 cast. Dems did win the county court seat that was on the ballot. The biggest surprise to me was the win for treasurer by the R county commissioner who decided not to run for re-election after alienating everyone she worked with. She was so bad, the other two commissioners formed an a D/R alliance to thwart her. Her election to a new, row office should make for some interesting times in the courthouse. All-in-all, a mixed bag with a good bit of ticket-splitting.

FTR, Beaver county is conservative with a lot of old, cranky white people. It's been trending R for awhile although the party registration numbers still might be close. I'd say the close races are a good harbinger for the future.

1. Upsets in SE Pa

Rs were wiped out in Delaware County. Dems won every seat on the county council and more! Dems now have the majority in Chester County and may take control of Bucks County, too. Stunning.

3. And the Repugs in Delco

Ran constant TV ads tying the Dem candidates to a pedophile. The usual gutter-ugly crap they pull. Didn’t work this time!
I’m delighted by the election (Bucks Co. here) except the RWNJ township supervisor who’s been in office a million years got re-elected again. Sigh.

4. Not really here

We just had a couple of issues, both to continue current taxes. They won overwhelmingly, despite this being a very red area. One is a road tax that has imrpoved the transportation network signifocantly. The value is quite plain to see, and there are a lot of transportation related businesses in the area.

5. Nope. Here in Pennsyltucky,

the republemmings took damn near everything.

Republicans took all (or almost) of the country row offices and tossed out a veteran incumbent county commissioner, thus regaining control of the county. Bleah.

6. In Pittsburgh, it's all Dems winning

The tightest race was for Allegheny County District Attorney, and incumbent Stephen Zappala has been re-elected again.

7. Lehigh County

10. The incumbent Dem township supervisor lost his re-election bid

in my township. I guess it's not really a surprise here given the preponderance of bigots and Trump humpers. The funny thing is the Republican candidate is a business owner in the city right next door. The city the township shares a zip code with and at which residents all thumb their noses. The new township supervisor was a part of the first nacent buds of revival in the city and his business is still doing well. Not sure how he's going to handle running a business and the township full time, though.
