FedEx Driver Caught Throwing Packages Into Ditch

LACKAWANNOCK TOWNSHIP, PA (KDKA) — A FedEx driver was seen throwing packages into a ditch from a Penske truck in Mercer County.

According to Pennsylvania State Police, a witness observed the driver in a FedEx uniform throwing packages from the truck into a ditch along Horvath Road. When the witness confronted the driver, he said he was going to pick them up but then drove off without them.

Tracking numbers for the packages were scanned by the driver, indicating he had delivered the packages to their destinations. The packages were recovered by state police and returned to FedEx to be delivered.

Charges are pending once a final value of the packages is determined.

I ran out of time to finish my gift shopping. So, when I get to my family's Christmas gathering, I can say, "You didn't get the gifts I sent? FedEx said they'd arrive by Christmas! Sorry!"

You could even say that FedEX said that they DID arrive. And then tell them about this guy.

Years ago I had a part-time job at UPS sorting packages. Around Christmas time the stress on the drivers was unbelievable. I'd see them come in to do paperwork and then rush back out. Their faces were full of stress and fear. The company put so much pressure on these drivers and the number of packages to deliver was humanly impossible.

My BIL has been a driver for UPS for over 20 years now. The same thing happens every year with UPS too, a driver just loses it and dumps packages out of desperation. My sister would dread Christmas due to the strain on her husband. He was literally working 20 hour days at times, zero rest.

Then suddenly, this year, UPS decided to hire a lot more drivers to help over the holidays--enough to actually make a difference. UPS has always hired additional drivers for the holiday load, but never nearly enough (want to keep that profit margin up). When she told me this I replied, "Wow, they finally started caring about their drivers. Was there a management change?". She told me no, the reason UPS finally started hiring enough drivers was due to competition from Amazon. With Amazon hiring private drivers in an Uber/Lyft type model, UPS wasn't able to compete. As always, nothing changes until it hits the pocketbook of these corporations.

Anyway, I feel for that FedEx driver. I've seen what they put those guys/gals through and it's insane.

A few years ago, I was literally run off the road by a FedEx driver, who had to have been BLIND not to see me. I got all the numbers off his truck, called FedEx and filed a complaint. The supervisor assured me there would be a thorough investigation and took my information so that they could call me back. I NEVER heard from them again.
