Pittsburgh police ID suspect who allegedly incited violence during Saturday's protest

Last edited Mon Jun 1, 2020, 06:49 AM - Edit history (1)

Hat tip, KDKA. I leave a radio by my bedside on all night.

Maybe he's like me -- oppressed for his good looks. From what you can see of him, he's a good-looking guy.

He has a YouTube channel. There's no content. There's a tiny picture of him there without the mask.

Pittsburgh police on Sunday afternoon served a search warrant for a suspect believed to have incited the violence that punctuated Saturday’s Downtown protest over the killing of George Floyd by law enforcement in Minnesota.

The warrant was served against Brian Jordan Bartels, 20 of Shaler for allegedly “breaking the windows out of a marked Pittsburgh Police vehicle Uptown, against the wishes of peaceful protesters who tried to stop him,” according to a release from police.

Mr. Bartels was not home when police served the warrant at his Shaler residence, but they did find evidence that links him to the violence that occurred Saturday. He is currently facing charges of “institutional vandalism, rioting and reckless endangerment of another person,” according to the report.

A warrant has been issued for Mr. Bartels’ arrest while the investigation continues.

cameras everywhere and their phones make excellent tracking devices?

Pittsburgh Police released the names and addresses of all 46 people arrested. 43 were from the area, but 3 were listed as "John Doe" as they refused to give their names.

... DOES know, and that's why they sent somebody young and stupid to do the dirty work.

This kid probably thinks the bandanna on his face makes him impervious to getting caught.
Dumb and wrong!

At least that's what I think I heard on the noon news here. Police got a warrant and searched his house. They found some weapons, relevent literature and the sweatshirt he was seen wearing at the protest. Undoubtedly, he's going to end up in jail for awhile.

with his social media scrubbed, i wouldn't be sure he is affiliated with ALF. Might've been told that's what blac bloc would wear. I'd talk to his classmates to see what kind of kid he was, what his home life was like... though he'll face justice as a man.

it's a "stylized" anarchists' "A" formed from assault rifles. I could certainly be wrong though.

Did a quick google search and all of this asshole’s social media has been deleted except for an old Pinterest account. Wonder if this happened after his name was made public or before and he’s planning something even worse.

They don't give a rat's ass about BLM, they're just stirring up trouble. Most likely ChumpHumpers too! This pic was already shared on Facebook, and people were saying it's a woman. Not a woman, apparently it's a very young man who's not even shaving yet.

Shaler Township is North of the Uptown section of Pittsburgh where video of him attacking a police car on Centre Ave near Epiphany Catholic Church was captured by cell phone and posted online. Shaler Township includes a number small suburban towns including his. These events occurred near Duquesne University.

He's wearing an ALF bandana as a earlier poster has noted. I'm not sure if the photo is flipped horizontally or if the bandana is being worn backward. He also wears a black hoodie that looks a lot like it has Animal Liberation on the back.
