As pro-Trump mob storms U.S. Capitol, Carnegie Mellon University institute honors election-denier
The same day that a mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol, Carnegie Mellon Universitys Institute of Politics and Strategy posted to its website news about recent Trump administration awards to a former administration official and CMU senior fellow who has been active in fights to overturn some of the 2020 election results.
The laudatory post Jan. 6 reignited tensions with some CMU faculty who in the past have criticized Richard Grenells appointment, prompting the announcements removal from the website.
Mr. Grenell is midway through a yearlong campus appointment. He could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
The institutes founding director, Kiron Skinner, is a professor and expert in international relations, U.S. foreign policy and political strategy. She was named to President-elect Donald J. Trumps transition team in 2016 for the National Security Council.
