Philadelphia officials and Department of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas Tuesday toured the citys first federally-run mass vaccination site at the Pennsylvania Convention Center, a clinic aiming to inoculate up to 6,000 residents per day. The site will officially open Wednesday.
Nothing more, just photos. Good news. The site is open and hopefully vaccinations will pick up speed as people fall into a routine.

(3,379 posts)....when Philly lowers the age requirement to 65 to match the rest of the state. Right now, you have to be 75. An official was on the news last night lamenting low vaccine rates, yet not addressing how that age cap is preventing a significant portion of the population. An uncomfortable fact - black men in Philadelphia have an average life expectancy of 69. There's been some outcry on how that age cap disproportionately shuts out black men in Philly. Many Philadelphia residents are seeking vaccinations outside of the city, where the age limit is 65 (and the health conditions covered by 1a may be different as well). My dad was able to get an appointment in a city about 1.5 hours away.
Pennsylvania is not doing well overall with the vaccine rollout and residents everywhere are frustrated. Hopefully, with Bidens announcement the other day regarding increased production/distribution moving vaccine deadlines up and with Philly's new Federal clinic at the Convention Center frustrations will begin to ease.

Some are going to residents who get same-day calls and to eligible people who just show up and wait.
