An ex-cop who police say abducted his two daughters from York County Sunday night is dead as well as his alleged accomplice and both children following an extensive manhunt.
(murder - suicide)
Robert Vicosa died of a gunshot wound inside a vehicle that crashed Thursday about 3 p.m. in Smithsburg, Maryland. Both of his daughters also died (by gunshot), as well as a suspended Baltimore County sergeant, Tia Bynum, whom police said was helping Vicosa. All died by gunshot, the source said.
Police had been looking for Vicosa, and Bynum, who was suspended this week for her alleged involvement in the crime spree, since at least Tuesday. Court records said Vicosa kidnapped the kids after a planned and elaborate assault of his estranged wife at his home in Windsor Township Sunday night. He then fled with the kids after the wife escaped, police said.
Vicosa was accused of kidnapping another woman Tuesday in Red Lion and stealing her car. The pair also was accused in a carjacking Wednesday night in Cockeysville, Maryland.
