Dauphin County Board of Elections approves Notice and Cure Plan for mail-in ballots

HARRISBURG, Pa. — The Dauphin County Election Board announced this week it has approved a notice and cure plan to help voters address errors on their mail-in and absentee ballots that could otherwise lead to their ballots being rejected.

Under this plan, voters who forget to place their ballot inside the official secrecy envelope or fail to sign the return envelope will be given an opportunity to correct the error, the Board said.

"If a mistake is identified, the ballot will be returned to the voter along with clear instructions, a new secrecy envelope, and a new return envelope," the Board said. "Voters will be guided to repackage their ballot using the new envelopes and to complete the voter declaration by signing and dating the return envelope."

The initiative aims to help voters correct simple errors and ensures that their votes are counted in the upcoming November 5, 2024 election.
