R.I. GOP leader says he was wrong to call Hillary Clinton 'subhuman,' but won't apologize
PROVIDENCE, R.I. On the day after he called Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton a "subhuman," state GOP Chairman Brandon Bell is acknowledging that was "a bad choice of words."
But he did not exactly apologize for his acknowledged "mistake."
"Even when joking I don't choose to call people names I usually criticize and leave it at that,'' he said Thursday of his comment, during a WPRO-radio interview a day earlier.
"It was a mistake. I don't hold a high regard for Hillary Clinton and she does not have a high regard for the truth. I should've said she has subpar abilities when it comes to honesty,'' said Bell, adding:
"While I acknowledge the poor choice of words in the context I said the word, I will only apologize when Hillary Clinton apologizes to the families of the Benghazi victims and when she apologizes to all of us for breaching national security with her private server and then repeatedly lying about it."
