Lawsuit sheds light on deliberate neglect of 'decrepit' state hospital buildings
PROVIDENCE — A lawsuit filed by the safety administrator for the state-run Eleanor Slater Hospital provides insights into what now appears to be deliberate neglect of the buildings, grounds — and even the oxygen-supply system.
In the lawsuit she filed against the state in U.S. District Court on Feb. 9, 2021, Lisa Greenlund alleges she tried multiple times to alert the top administrators of fire-safety problems at the hospital — and other "deficiencies" — but she was either ignored, publicly reprimanded or stripped of her keys.
The lawsuit sprang from a dispute over how much she should have been paid after she was temporarily transferred in June 2019 to the higher-paying position held by Todd Tinkham, who she alleges — and the state confirms — had been "placed on administrative leave."
Tinkham's job title at the time: associate director of environment of care at the Eleanor Slater Hospital.
