Spartanburg, Greenville business leaders oppose Joe Biden's proposed $15 minimum wage

Raising the minimum wage from $7.25 to $15 an hour would help to pull many workers with families out of poverty, but just barely.

"This policy would directly lift the wages of 28.1 million workers by 2024," according to an Economic Policy Institute statement signed by dozens of economists.

"The vast majority of employees who would benefit are adults – disproportionately women – in working families, who work at least 20 hours a week and depend on their earnings to make ends meet."

The last federal minimum wage increase was in 2009 when it went to $7.25 an hour. President Biden has proposed raising it to $15 in his $1.9 trillion COVID pandemic relief package.

I think that the minimum wage can be adjusted up to $15 an hour by 2024 with minimal adverse effect.

She is a teacher and she thinks it’s insane to raise the wage! She thinks it’s your fault if you didn’t get educated!
