Criminal charges against former South Carolina Rep. Chris Corley will move ahead

Criminal charges filed against former S.C. Rep. Chris Corley will move forward, according to the S.C. Attorney General's Office.

On July 14, Corley's wife had filed an affidavit in Aiken County Circuit Court asking that the case be dismissed. She was listed as a victim in a police report concerning a domestic dispute in December 2016.

Robert Kittle, with the Attorney General's office, told The Aiken-Standard that due to how serious these allegations are that "the charges will not be dropped or reduced."

Corley, 36, a Republican, was arrested in December. He was charged with first-degree criminal domestic violence, a felony, and pointing and presenting a firearm at his wife while two of his three children watched.
