"Enough is enough. Following the massive immigration raid in East Tennessee, our legislature’s passage of one of the country’s most extreme mass deportation laws, state legislators suing the federal government to keep refugees out, and another cruel defeat of tuition equality legislation, Tennessee is at risk of becoming one of the most hostile and unwelcoming states in the nation. These state level attacks are happening as the president and his administration continue to advance unconscionable and draconian policies, dismantling our immigration system.

The 2018 elections have become a race to the bottom with candidates doubling down on tactics and rhetoric of hate and fear. We are at a critical juncture for our state and country, with competing visions for immigration and America’s multicultural future on the ballot. This is a crisis for immigrant families and our democracy.
That's why we're launching TIRRC Votes, a new organization that will strengthen and expand our democracy by building political power in immigrant and refugee communities.

In this moment of crisis, immigrant families need new tools and greater political organization to fight back. As a 501(c)4 organization, TIRRC Votes can more aggressively advance equitable and inclusive public policy, defeat anti-immigrant candidates up and down the ballot, and elect real champions for immigrant families and progressive values.

For the critical 2018 elections, TIRRC Votes plans to register and mobilize thousands of voters who share our values and want to build a more just and welcoming Tennessee for all. We need to make sure that all pro-immigrant voters know where candidates stand on critical issues and have the tools to vote their values this November.
