Suspect in Nashville church fires, break-ins arrested
A man suspected of breaking into four south Nashville churches and setting small fires in each has been taken into custody, Metro Police announced Wednesday.
Alan Fox, 26, was taken into custody by Nashville Fire Department arson investigators at the Hickory Highlands apartment complex in South Nashville and confessed to setting the church fires. Fox is was booked into the Davidson County Jail.
The churches include Priest Lake Community Baptist, Crievewood Baptist and St. Ignatius Catholic, which were broken into on Tuesday and Wednesday. At least two TVs were taken. Fox is also responsible for a fire set in the Crievewood United Methodist on June 17, police said.
The churches are spread out over a 10-mile area.
Investigators from the Nashville Fire Department, State Fire Marshal and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives made the arrest acting on a tip to the state arson hotline.
