As numbers soar, Shelby County ICU capacity hovers near 90%

Shelby County Health Department reported 469 positive novel coronavirus cases Sunday for a total of 16,463 since early March.

The Health Department reported 2,964 new tests and the daily positivity rate was 15.8%.

Additionally, the state reported six new deaths from viral complications for a total of 241.

ICU capacity in Shelby County is at 89%, slightly less than prior days. The Health Department reports there are 48 beds available. Of those in ICU, 113, 29%, are being treated for COVID-19. An additional 23 are being monitored for COVID symptoms.

Acute care is not as tight as days prior at 89% capacity. There are 271 acute care beds available. About 10% of those in acute care beds are being treated for COVID-19.
