Watertown vice mayor arrested on drug charges, resigns as alderman

A longtime Watertown alderman and vice mayor has resigned after being arrested on drug charges.

Brandon Len Howard, 57, was arrested on a traffic stop in Lebanon on Dec. 10, according to police and Wilson County Jail records.

Howard hasn't been active as an alderman for several meetings and hasn't been living at his residence in Watertown, he said. Howard was an alderman for about 18 years and vice mayor for approximately 16 years, he said.

Howard did not comment on the charges.

The arrest originated from a stop on Sparta Pike near Briskin Lane due to an expired temporary tag on the vehicle Howard was driving, Lebanon Police Department Sgt. PJ Hardy said.
