Elementary school principal in Clarksville violently assaulted by parent during meeting

https://clarksvillenow.com/local/glenellen-elementary-principal-violently-assaulted-by-parent-during-meeting-at-school/

"The principal of Glenellen Elementary School was assaulted by a parent during a meeting on Thursday, and a criminal investigation is underway.

At about 1:15 p.m., Principal Emily Clark was physically assaulted during a meeting between a parent of a student who attends the school and Clark, according to a news release from Lt. Mark J. Wojnarek, spokesperson for the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office.

The school’s video surveillance system captured the assault, but the parent fled prior to law enforcement’s arrival, Wojnarek said. School resource officers responded and are investigating.
....

“Mrs. Clark was having a conversation with a parent. The parent became aggressive and Mrs. Clark attempted to diffuse the situation. However, Mrs. Clark was physically assaulted by the parent who then left the building,” Mosely said.
.....
“We sent a communication to our community about two weeks ago about concerns with escalating of both student behaviors, but also adult behaviors … the way that some adults are talking to our faculty, staff and administrators. And unfortunately, two weeks later after sending that message, you have a situation where we have a school principal who’s violently assaulted in the lobby in the middle of the day,” Johnson said."...(more)

Surely that name is known to authorities and that person has shown themselves to be a danger to the public.

Let’s have that name, clarksvillenow.com.

It was a disrespected, underpaid job for overqualified and educated professionals for the last 25 years, now it is an impossible job. Thank Dog I am no longer a teacher.

Abusive behavior is being demonstrated as a reaction to anger—any anger, whether warranted or not. Republicans are now raising a generation of future abusers who think they have every right to attack anyone who disagrees with them. Unfortunately, many of them ill also have guns. What a nasty society we have become thanks to the Republican Party.

Teachers and administrators usually know who the more challenging parents are and we have each others' backs. Several times I've requested that an administrator sit in on parent-teacher conferences if I thought it might help ease tensions, and also it's good to have a witness in the room. I teach in a rural area and our elementary school now has a resource officer on campus, and I have seen him sitting in the principal's office with a parent. What's strange is that 20 years ago I would never have thought we'd ever have the need for a resource officer on our campus, but times have changed.
