As you may know, we are at great risk of losing a Democratic Congressional seat, as Nashville's safe district was just carved up by racist gerrymandering and allocated to 3 largely White, rural conservative districts. Jim Cooper decided there was no point in running again, so it is an empty seat. Heidi Campbell faces an uphill battle demographically in the rump 5th District, but she is a champ so I am hoping for the best. I can't vote for her, as I got carved out into a different district 80 miles from my home, represented by MAGA loon John Rose, but I am doing what I can to support Heidi Campbell. She would do us proud in Congress!
The following is from  an e-mail I just got from the TN Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition:
"Heidi Campbell has years of experience in community leadership as a former mayor and a state senator - we need her leadership in Congress! Heidi has been a champion of immigrant and refugee communities in the legislature, speaking and voting against dangerous bills that target Tennesseans who are immigrants and refugees and co-sponsoring the Workforce Expansion Law, which enable immigrants with work permits to access professional and commercial licenses. 

Tennessee's Republican-led state legislature attempted to suppress Black and brown votes this year by dividing Nashville's 5th Congressional District, a long-time Democratic stronghold, into three separate districts. This was a direct attack against the growing political power we are building across the state. We’ve been working all year to build infrastructure to fight in Congressional District 5 for the long term and we must keep the momentum going by electing a candidate like Heidi Campbell. From the economy to climate, immigration, and reproductive rights, it is past time for elected representatives who are willing to act boldly to defend our values."
