Tennessee Passes Bill Allowing People To Hit Protesters Blocking Roads

Tennessee just made it legal to injure protesters who are blocking roadways and other rights of way. The bill, introduced Wednesday and which easily passed the senate Friday, renders someone who runs over a protester who is blocking the street free from civil liability, so long as the driver was exercising ‘due care.’

you probably were not exercising 'due care,' and if you run over them deliberately you're clearly not off the hook at all. Still, it's a really stupid bill. WTF is wrong with Tennessee lately?

In any negligence case liability is predicated on the failure to exercise reasonable or due care, so what's the point of this bill anyhow?

This is a quote from the Tennessean:

"If a driver intentionally hits a protester or acts in an otherwise careless manner, they will not be immune from civil liabilities, according to the bill."
