I am learning to walk again: Former state Sen. Leticia Van de Putte updates condition following pedestrian crash
SAN ANTONIO On April 3, Leticia Van de Putte, a former Texas state senator from San Antonio, was badly injured in an auto-pedestrian crash in Orlando, Florida.
She currently recovering at University Hospital in San Antonio and on Wednesday posted an update on Facebook.
After being transferred to our own University Hospital Trauma and Surgical ICU, the healing started. Three weeks ago, I could only move one toe
and now , I am learning to walk again, she wrote. Today I begin a new phase of recovery leaving the amazing Reeves Rehabilitation Unit at University Hospital and entering the Remington Transitional Care Facility here in San Antonio.
Van de Putte, 67, represented the 26th District in the Texas Senate from 1999-2015. She additionally was a member of the Texas House from 1991-1999.
In 2014, she was the Democratic nominee for lieutenant governor but lost in the general election to current lieutenant governor Dan Patrick.
