The stagnant leadership of the Texas Democratic Party is hindering us from progress.

Weve hit our second Sine Die for the year, an impeachment looming, and the State Party has remained primarily absent/quiet for the year. Recently, my good friend Olivia Julianna posted a Twitter thread Id like to share with you.
She makes a lot of good points, and its time we revisit the biggest anchor holding Texas down and preventing us from flipping the state.
A few months ago, I was invited to an online event to hear Texas Democratic Party Chair Gilberto Hinojosa discuss the 2024 Strategy. So naturally, I accepted, optimistic that perhaps there would be something he would say to give me hope to show that he recognizes this states challenges and plans to do something different than in our previous election losses.
Its taken me a while to tell you what I learned because there is no way to paint a pretty picture. Ive written and scrapped this article twice already.

(22,722 posts)Both Governor and Senate are statewide offices so gerrymandering does not apply.
Voter suppression? I'm certain there was some but sadly not enough to overcome the Repub margin of victory in the governor's race. We simply didn't get enough turnout. If we had been able to turnout the Democratic and Dem Adjacent votes in 2018, Beto would have won that race.
Now we have Collin Aldred taking on Cruz. I have seen predictions that this seat has gone from lean Republican to flippable. Surely we can (at a local level at least) get out the vote in excess of 2018 and nail that nasty rat-face to the wall.

(2,860 posts)They had the warchest to plaster the airwaves.
They refused to do it!!!!! They just concentrated on the metro areas while ads for abbot were EVERYWHERE.
Countless emails and phone calls from the campaign volunteers were met with rife disorganization.
You can have the best candidate in the world, but if your ground game and organization is a mess, it's pointless....

(29,999 posts)for the municipal runoff. No one at TDP was doing them. I was blockwalking every day and voters were not updated.
There are voters who moved a year ago and their addresses have not been changed. Jeez .how hard is this to do? I'm sure new voters aren't in there at all. It also took them three months to update VAN after the 2022 election. Pathetic
