Manor ISD puts VATRE on November ballot
MANOR, Texas The Manor Independent School District Board of Trustees voted Monday to place a Voter-Approval Tax Rate Election (VATRE) on the November ballot, aiming to boost staff salaries and enhance school safety and mental health support.
The board also approved a tax rate of $1.0814 per $100 of taxable value for the 2024-2025 school year during a special meeting.
If passed, the VATRE, known as Proposition A, would inject an additional $4.8 million into the district's budget. The funds would provide a 3% salary increase for all employees, support campus safety by funding new school police officers and equipment, and bolster mental health resources through new social worker positions and student programs.
The proposed tax rate, contingent on voter approval, would be Manor ISD's lowest since 2015. District officials say a homeowner with an average-value home in Manor ($233,192) would see about a $10 decrease in annual property taxes if the measure passes.
