As a resident just north of the Rio Grande Valley, I am happy at the enthusiasm finally since historically, this area has had an extraordinarily low turnout. The state as a whole has a pitifully low turnout. As an example, Anglos make up only 40% of the total population but account for over 60% of those who vote statewide. I don't understand why historically Hispanics vote at about 50% of those who are what they consider Anglo in this state. I saw the numbers from 2020, and they were extremely disappointing. Zapata County, with a 95% Hispanic population, actually went to Trump. I know it's only a tiny county with maybe 5,000 people, but that was a huge shock to many of us.
