School tax propositions for many local school districts on the ballot this November

AMARILLO, Texas (KAMR/KCIT) — As early voting begins tomorrow there are many things on the ballot to be aware of.

During this election cycle, many counties will have school tax rate propositions to vote in favor of or against.

On the ballot for Hutchinson County, voters can vote in favor of or against the Borger ISD proposition A tax rate that will ratify the AD Valorem tax rate of $1.13 for the current year. The proposition will also add an additional $522,500 to the M&O budget compared to last year. There will also be an increase in taxes on $100,000 homes by 50 dollars compared to last year.

“For the 2024-25 budget, we have a deficit. The five-cent BATRE election would generate $1.5 million approximately $500,000 of those funds would come from local revenue, and the other 1 million would come from state revenue,” said Borger ISD Superintendent Chance Welch.
