(6,098 posts)maybe we should have been praying for just a really heavy dew! Glad to hear the property is OK. The devastation looks terrible.

(22,895 posts)relatively safe from this crazy world.... no where to run anymore... if we don't all start working together, I realize it is going downhill fast... people have known this was coming for decades

(221,159 posts)I'm next door in Northeastern New York and we're getting hit, too. But I've spent a lot of time in Vermont, specifically Colchester - Chittenden County, northeast of Burlington - and when I was there right after Hurricane Irene (which devastated this area of New York, too) the roads were washed out and the cabins on the shore of Lake Champlain were just washed away. And the reports say that the damage and the flooding this time is definitely worse. It looks like Montpelier, which is far from the lake, was hit the worst. Hang in there...

(221,159 posts)I have seen the footage of Montpelier and it's heartbreaking, but your photos show much more. It looks like waterfalls in town. And so many homes and businesses - we've been lucky so far, nothing like Irene has happened here. Thank you so much for sharing and please let us know how you're doing. I hope that the rain holds off long enough for cleanup and repairs, but it looks like it'll take a long time.
