"I have a bill in my hands for $11,268 for butter," an outraged Uncle Jimmy says. "Buddy, what is it, the fucking rare Transylvanian five-titted goat? We cannot fucking keep this up."

Carmy replies that the butter is "Orwellian."

"It's dystopian butter?" Jimmy responds.

No, Carmy says, it's butter from Orwell — Vermont. An invoice from the butter company flashes on screen, revealing it's from Old Major Butter Farms, a reference to the rebellious pig character in George Orwell's novel Animal Farm.

It may be my palate, but I've tried a lot of butters recently and none taste like I recall from childhood. hlthe2b Jul 2024 #4

... I was responding to another article on the same page your article was on.

About the butter: I'm glad my palate isn't that refined. But it is good the original owner passed it on to new owners that do the work instead of a big corporation.

(I can't comment on that from Orwell, Vermont, obviously). I suspect it is all those years of eschewing butter so that I've lost a taste for it. Still, I have had a few events in recent years where the dish I was preparing (or butter to be served) needed to be the real deal and I tried everything from the premium imported Irish butters to the upscale varieties Whole Foods likes to promote and none were that great.

I'll stick with my Earth Butter (Original--canola blend) I suppose...
