Rutland mayor: Fake gunfire in movie scene rattled state employees

RUTLAND — A Vermont mayor is criticizing a local filmmaker after several fake gunshots fired during a movie scene left state employees rattled.

(http://bit.ly/2fir8dF ) reports that city Mayor Christopher Louras said in social media post that Edgewood Studios owner David Giancola failed to warn the community that his crew would be shooting blanks in Rutland on Wednesday.

Louras says the shots were heard unexpectedly by the Agency of Human Services and the Department for Children and Families in nearby buildings. He says a number of employees were frightened.

A DCF spokeswoman says the filming was "disruptive" to the children.

It was a movie shoot that was occurring outdoors and blanks were being fired.
