Metrorail and bus service at the Pentagon on Wednesday morning:

On Wednesday morning, when I started my day, Yellow and Blue Line trains were still bypassing Pentagon station. I saw Alexandria DASH AT3 and AT4 buses running. They ordinarily go to the Pentagon, but they probably terminate at Pentagon City for now.

Yesterday at 6:12 p.m. EDT

A Pentagon police officer was killed Tuesday during an attack at a bus platform outside the military headquarters that prompted gunfire, a lockdown of the sprawling facility in Virginia and a massive police and fire response, officials said.

Metro said rail service to the Pentagon station would be suspended Wednesday. Yellow and Blue Line trains will continue to bypass the station all day, and Metro buses normally scheduled to run to and from the Pentagon Transit Center will operate from outside the Pentagon City Metro station at South Hayes and 12th streets. ... Metro said it sent workers to the station to help guide customers and help with travel plans and connections.

Metro said it will continue to provide updates on service at wmata.com, on Twitter @MetrorailInfo and @MetrobusInfo, and through the MetroAlerts text and email message system. Specific information on rail lines and bus routes will be issued through MetroAlerts, the agency said.

UPDATE: The detour will continue into tomorrow morning.

Due to police activity at Pentagon Metro, the AT3/AT4 will not serve Pentagon Metro this afternoon. All AT3/AT4 trips will detour to Pentagon City. Passengers will board and exit in front of the Pentagon City Metro on SB S. Hayes Street, south of 12th Street South.

Closures continue at Pentagon Metro station. ART 42 & 87 will continue to operate from the Pentagon City Mall west entrance bus stop until further notice.

Due to the ongoing closure of the Pentagon Transit Center (PTC) today, all Fairfax Connector routes to the Pentagon (306, 393, 394, 395, 396, 599, 698, 834, and 835) will detour to serve Stop ID 5764 at 12th Street/Hayes Street. Route 599 will serve all stops except the PTC.

Re-Routing of all Pentagon-Bound OmniRide Express Routes Starting 8/4

Posted: 08/03/2021

Due to the on-going investigation of today’s incident, the Pentagon Transit Station remains shut down and inaccessible. OmniRide will re-route all Pentagon-bound Express routes to a nearby Pentagon City bus stop until further notice: at westbound Army Navy and Fern. Depending on the duration of the investigation, this could be in effect for several days.

All other OmniRide Express routes will operate as normal, except for the possibility of having to loop around the temporary Pentagon stop.

Regular fares will be in effect.

Please check OmniRide.com and watch for Rider Express messages for updates.
