Multiple sexual assaults dominate public comment at Loudoun school board meeting

https://wjla.com/news/local/multiple-sexual-assaults-dominate-public-comment-at-loudoun-school-board-meeting

Parents blasted members of the Loudoun County Board of Education and the superintendent, calling for resignations after a student was charged with two sexual assaults on two different campuses.

Scott Smith confirmed to 7News On Your Side his daughter was the victim of a sexual assault in the girl’s bathroom at Stonebridge High School at the end of May.

The Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that the same juvenile suspect was charged with a second sexual assault at another Loudoun County school after the May 28 incident.

The perp was caught right?

Sounds like Loudon County has a new pass time, ranting at school board meetings.

The father says he received almost no support from the school. The alleged perp was transferred to another school and committed a second (alleged) act.

the current charges are sexual battery and abduction.

I don't think we'll know more details until this works its way through the courts.

I am leaning against this. Courtroom testimony might show the true colors of the people.

In any case, my moral support to the victims and their families.

and is being charged with 2 counts of sodomy against a 14 year old girl (that's the first case). The second is abduction and assault.

Horrifying (really). At school.

I've never worked at a school. But had that incident occurred on my watch - I think I would have considered it an emergency.

A 14 year old girl? FFS. And then he tried to obfuscate that fact at the meeting? Please. (Obfuscate....lie......).

Here is Ziegler's statement (in part)

First, let me say to the families and students involved — my heart aches for you and I am sorry that we failed to provide the safe, welcoming, and affirming environment that we aspire to provide," he said during a press conference. "We acknowledge and share in your pain and we will continue to offer support to help you and your families through this trauma. For all of our students, our school-based Unified Mental Health Teams are available to anyone who needs care."

Amid Recall Fight, One Loudoun County School Board Member Resigns

Margaret Barthel https://twitter.com/margaretbarthel

A Loudoun County school board member announced her resignation on Friday as a group of conservative parents pushed forward in a recall campaign against her (and several other members of the board).

Beth Barts, who represented Leesburg on the board, announced her decision in a Facebook post. “This was not an easy decision or a decision made in haste,” she wrote. “After much thought and careful consideration, it is the right decision for me and my family.”

Barts said she looked forward to “a return to a simpler life of volunteer service,” but said she would miss talking with constituents and seeking to address their concerns.

The recall attempt against Barts and four other school board members ostensibly centers around adherence to open meetings laws. But it’s spearheaded by the conservative parent group Fight for Schools, which focuses on organizing “against implementing critical race theory concepts in schools,” per its website. Barts — and her colleagues — passed a school system policy to ensure transgender students use school facilities according to their gender identity, and have also supported the school system’s approach to teaching about race.
