One dead, four injured after shooting at Blacksburg nightspot, police say
Mike Niziolek 2 hrs ago
BLACKSBURG A shooting in a downtown nightspot just before midnight Friday left one person dead and four injured as police continued to search a closed-off, multiple block section near the Virginia Tech campus hours later.
A Blacksburg police statement issued at 2 a.m. gave few details of the gun violence at Melody Hookah Lounge, located at 109 North Main St., but said "multiple individuals were transported from the scene to local hospitals."
A 5:30 a.m. update later said five people were injured in the shooting, four were transported to local hospitals and one died. No identities have been released.
A statement issued by Virginia Tech President Tim Sands said one of the injured people is a Virginia Tech student.

(18,111 posts)5. I have family in Blacksburg employed* at VT
They lost a friend in the mass 2007 shooting. They are always upset when things like this happen.
I declined VT's admission offer and went to UVa. I'm still wondering if I choose wrong.

Patrick Henry High School student killed in Blacksburg shooting, four injured; suspect taken into custody
Mike Niziolek , Mike Gangloff 9 hrs ago
BLACKSBURG A student at Roanokes Patrick Henry High School died late Friday in a shooting at a downtown Blacksburg hookah lounge. Police took a man into custody for his slaying and for the wounding of four others.
In a statement issued Saturday night, Blacksburg police identified the person killed in the shooting as Isiah O. Robinson, 18. They said that six warrants have been issued for Jamel D. Flint, 24: for first-degree murder, four counts of attempted first-degree murder, and one count of using a gun to commit a felony.
After 10:30 p.m. Saturday night, the Blacksburg police issued a statement saying Flint "has been taken into custody in Roanoke Virginia without incident." ... Earlier in the evening, police said Flint was considered to be armed and dangerous. The Blacksburg police statement offered no explanation as to why the department waited almost 20 hours to disclose that an armed and dangerous suspect was at large.
Robinson, a linebacker and running back, was mourned in a Saturday night post on the Patrick Henry football team Twitter account. It included a picture of Robinson in his Patriots uniform with No. 3 on his chest. Isiah will be missed and our hearts and prayers go out to his family, football family and friends, the tweet said.
