Spanberger on the Dem caucus call: We lost races we shouldn't have lost.

Defund police almost cost me my race bc of an attack ad.
Don’t say socialism ever again.
Need to get back to basics.
(Is yelling.)

Because no one on the Democratic side was saying "socialism" this election, not even Bernie Sanders.

The democracy is hanging by a thread and some House Rep is complaining about campaign tactics in her district?

Forming a circular firing squad within the caucus before all the races are even called is a good place to start.

Thank you.

And "some House rep"? That's it? On the entire planet, there are only 435 of them.

I have no idea what it's like where you're from, but I kind of like keeping Virginia blue.

Also, welcome to DU.

is now a buzz word for my conservative friends. It really raises their ire in nanoseconds.

Is there such a word as 'Democratic Capitalism'?

President Harry's Truman's remarks in Syracuse, New York on October 10, 1952, he said this:

Socialism is a scare word they have hurled at every advance the people have made in the last 20 years.

Socialism is what they called public power. Socialism is what they called social security.

Socialism is what they called farm price supports.

Socialism is what they called bank deposit insurance.

Socialism is what they called the growth of free and independent labor organizations.

Socialism is their name for almost anything that helps all the people.

While this could have waited, it is a viable discussion to have. We have to be more careful with our marketing. Our enemies, the repugs, will take everything and twist it into horrible lies and their stupid base will eat it up.

Especially if they are associated with the agriculture, energy, defense, aviation, or banking industries. They are so heavily subsidized by the federal government. It's ridiculous. Also, any small business owner who got a PPP loan or other benefits under the CARES Act. I'm glad the benefits were available, and people should have applied for and taken them, but that doesn't absolve them of the fact that they're welfare queens.

Particularly given that no two people seemed to agree on what it actually meant. "De-militarize the police" or "make the police protect the people" would have been a lot better. It's also deoressing to see, in multiple cities, white politicians shouting to defund the police while black politicians are saying they want more police on the streets.
