Parents anxious over potential elementary school closures in Bellevue
Emotions are running high amongst thousands of families in the Bellevue School District (BSD) who are facing a threat that their children’s elementary schools might have to close.
“Cannot duck the issue,” said BSD Interim Superintendent Dr. Art Jarvis at a Jan. 12 board meeting.
Seven elementary schools are on the potential closure list including: Phantom Lake, Wilburton, Woodridge, Sherwood Forest, Ardmore, Enatai and Eastgate. The district has cited declining enrollment as the biggest factor.
The anxiety over the closure is so overwhelming for some parents, they've asked the district to look beyond the data.
