Alaska USA Federal Credit Union to rebrand with new name
Alaska USA Federal Credit Union, which operates more than a dozen Puget Sound-area branches, will change its name to Global Credit Union in a move that it says better reflects its growth into new markets.
The name change is effective April 3, the 74-year-old credit union said in an announcement.
The credit unions headquarters will remain in Anchorage and the current board and executive management, including President and CEO Geoff Lundfelt, will remain in leadership. Alaska USA is a member-owned, nonprofit cooperative.
Global Credit Union is actually the fifth name in the organizations history, also reflecting that Alaska USA members live in all 50 states and in more than 20 foreign countries. Additionally, the new name also connects to an update to the credit unions charter that allows anyone working in the U.S. Department of Defense worldwide to become a member.
