Seattle social housing initiative lead grows after latest vote count

The number of "yes" votes for Seattle's social housing Initiative 135 increased on Wednesday, prompting the House Our Neighbors campaign to declare victory.

"Yes, we are calling it!" campaign co-chair Tiffani McCoy texted.

The lead grew from around 5,000 votes on election night to over 9,300, and from a 6-percentage-point margin to an 8-point margin.

The initiative adds a player to the Puget Sound region's roster of affordable housing developers: a public development authority that will buy, build and maintain permanently affordable housing.
