King County homeowners warned of 'sticker shock' ahead of proposed property tax levies

A Seattle Council member warned of the 'sticker shock' surrounding a proposed property tax increase to raise money for housing.

In a morning hearing on the $970 million levy, North Seattle’s Alex Pedersen noted that “many of my constituents remain concerned about the sticker shock” of the proposal to more than triple the current levy.

It may be arguably the biggest financial request of Seattle taxpayers when taking another levy into account, which goes to voters on Tuesday.

King County is asking for an additional $1.2 billion in revenue for the ‘Crisis Care Levy’, which also singles out property taxes.
