SWAT team responds to Seattle encampment near I-90
A SWAT team from Seattle police responded to a homeless encampment near I-90 on Friday afternoon.
For around 90 minutes, the SWAT team could be seen operating in the area encampment, which is on the south side of I-90 directly west of 12th Avenue. One of the team's armored vehicles was stationed in a lane of I-90 above the encampment.
Seattle police have not indicated what drew the large tactical response. People in the area told KOMO News that a particular encampment is known to have a large number of guns in it.
"I know it was pretty rough down there," said Roger Scales, a homeless man who was in the area. "I’m not surprised they brought the SWAT team."
