Sen. Patty Murray casts historic 10,000th vote on Senate floor

Washington Sen. Parry Murray cast her 10,000th vote on the floor of the Senate Thursday, the first woman in history to do so.

According to U.S. Senate records, only 32 others, all men, have achieved that milestone.

The only other Washington Senator, Scoop Jackson (D), cast 10,063 votes during his tenure from 1953 to 1983.

The most votes ever cast was by Sen. Robert Byrd (D) of West Virginia, who cast 18,689 votes between 1959 and 2010.
