Revised $12 billion proposal to address King County homelessness to be discussed Thursday

The King County Regional Homelessness Authority (KCRHA) is expected to discuss its revised $12 billion proposal to address homelessness over the next five years during a meeting Thursday afternoon.

The original draft plan, which was released in January, received jaw dropping reaction and pushback on its price tag, and a lack of direction on the public safety issues surrounding homeless encampments. The authority said the revised plan was “drafted in response to feedback from 2,527 comments captured in surveys and listening sessions from community partners and the general public.”

The agency's own governing board, which includes Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell, acknowledged the $12 billion proposal that was initially included in the draft plan is unrealistic.

The new draft plan is expected to be discussed during a meeting Thursday afternoon. The virtual meeting is scheduled to begin at 3 p.m.
