Eastside cities plan symposium on state Clean Buildings Act

Save the date: The cities of Bellevue, Issaquah, Kirkland and Redmond will meet with commercial real estate owners and building managers Sept. 28 about the state Clean Buildings Act.

The half-day event is free and begins at 7:30 a.m. at Meydenbauer Center in Bellevue. Registration is available here.

There will be presentations and panel discussions with representatives of the state Department of Commerce, Puget Sound Energy and the cities as well as the new Bellevue 2030 District. They'll talk about resources available to help owners and managers reduce energy consumption.

The 2019 Clean Buildings Act created energy performance standards for commercial buildings larger than 50,000 square feet. Mandatory compliance begins June 1, 2026, for buildings 220,000 square feet or larger. Compliance starts a year later for buildings over 90,000 square feet, and on June 1, 2028, for buildings over 50,000 square feet.
