Final remains in Green River Killer case identified as Everett teen

EVERETT — When Tammie Liles’ family buried her in the 1980s, they had to use a baby casket “because we couldn’t find all the parts of her body,” her brother recalled years ago.

Through advances in DNA testing, King County remains were identified as belonging to the Everett teenager — the final unidentified remains tied to serial killer Gary Ridgway, known as the Green River Killer.

The King County Sheriff’s Office announced the breakthrough Monday.

Liles disappeared from downtown Seattle on June 9, 1983. She was 16.

I am fascinated by how the police catch serial killers.
Yes they are all monsters. Psychopaths who turn into evil.

When I was in graduate school, one of the other grad student's research interest was serial killers.
He had interviewed or corresponded with all living (jailed) serial killers.
And in every class he would bring up his research. So I learned something about serial killers
whether I wanted to or not. But I still have an interest in them.
And how the FBI Behavioral Analysis Unit helps identify them.

6. Have you ever read any of Ann Rule's books?

They are true crime books. They are fascinating yet after a few I had to pause on them for a while, you just can’t believe the evil that is within some people. I suppose they’re a little dated by this time, but still fascinating.

I think I have watched every serial killer movie out there.
Yes I know, it is hard to watch parts of them.
I have to use clinical detachment, and I got a bit desensitized in grad school as I said.

I think about half the serial killers are diagnosed with psychosis.
So they are severely mentally ill.

Personally I sure as hell would not go to their prisons and interview them.

Long ago I used to do quite a bit jail interviewing for the court, conducting psych evals.
Mainly sexual offenders.
No way I am going to go face to face with a serial killer. No thank you.
