Rental relief? Here's how apartment rents are trending in Seattle

Housing affordability has been a persistent challenge in recent years — for homebuyers and apartment renters alike.

In Seattle, there are signs that rents are headed higher, bucking the national trend.

Median monthly rents in the metro area increased 3.37% last year to $2,093, according to data from Rent.com. In December, rents in Seattle rose 0.57% from the month before as well.

Seattle joins other West Coast cities that saw sizable rent gains in 2023, including Los Angeles (4.06%) and San Jose, California (9.48%).
