Machinists bargaining team backs four-year proposed deal with Boeing: "The best contract we've negotiated in our history
The leadership of the International Association of Machinists (IAM) Districts 751 and W24 and Boeing have reached an accord on a tentative new contract that would keep the workers who build the company’s planes on the job, averting a strike that could be extremely costly and detrimental to the beleaguered aerospace giant.
With little time left ahead of the expiration of the current contract, negotiating teams for IAM and Boeing were able to agree on new terms that will now be submitted to members for a ratification vote on Thursday, September 16th. IAM leadership described the deal as “the best contract we’ve negotiated in our history.”
“This contract isn’t just words on paper; it’s a testament to your collective voice,” said Jon Holden and Brandon Bryant in a joint letter. (Holden is the President and Directing Business Representative of District 751, while Bryant serves in the same role for W24.)
“Every demand, every priority that we brought to the table, carried the weight of your strength. The company knew we were only the conduit for your priorities. Negotiations are a give and take, and although there was no way to achieve success on every single item, we can honestly say that this proposal is the best contract we’ve negotiated in our history.”
