Her ballot burned, Clark County teen undeterred

VANCOUVER, Wash. (KOIN) — Washington State University student Maggie Lind “was really excited to participate in this election, especially since it’s a presidential election.” The 18-year-old from Camas recently filled out her ballot while she was on campus, then drove home to drop it off in Vancouver.

“I thought I really lucked out,” Lind told KOIN 6 News. But her first voting experience took a turn Monday morning.

“All of a sudden, the family group chat is blowing up talking about the ballot box burning,” she said.

Maggie Lind’s ballot was among the ones burned at three voting drop boxes in Vancouver and Portland.

Clark County Auditor Greg Kimsey said his office is busy getting new ballots in the hands of the voters affected by the arsons.
